With the ever encroaching winter upon us, many SHS students just can’t wait for Schweitzer Mountain to open. However a few of these impatient athletes have found a way to pursue their passion even without the assistance or convenience of a ski lift.

Senior Gavin Klein, along with a couple of his close friends, juniors Andre Kemink and Brennan Powell, spent the earlier portion of this fall collecting carpet, pipes, rails and anything else they could get their hands on, storing these items in a secret location they call the “Rail Garden” in preparation for winter.

Now, as the snow begins to gather in the mountains, these boys have built jumps, rails, tree grinds, rock jibs and all sorts of other sweet features to ski and snowboard on.

“I just love skiing, you know?” Klein said when asked about the subject.
