CHAIRS FOR CHARITY

Students create artwork out of chairs for a benefit auction.

Several artists have been working on painting chairs for a benefit auction in partnership with The Paint Bucket in Sandpoint.

Brianna Jordan, a junior, painted two of the chairs that will be sold in the benefit auction.

“We are taking these chairs and up-cycling them and turning them into art […] they will be sold at a [benefit] auction,” Brianna Jordan, one of the artists said.

Jordan has been working on her chairs for several weeks. The first one, featuring the City Beach sign and Sandpoint mill buildings is complete. She is currently working on her second chair.

“My chair [has] a fish, and the legs are sand; I’m going for a beachy approach,” she said.

There are three to four other artists who have been working on the other chairs. One, Selina Street, is painting a green and blue chair with a bear carved into the seat.

“The scenery behind [the bears] was my idea for painting the chair […] and then I made a stencil and carved the bear into this chair,” Street said.
