Here is an example of a way to spice up your style.

When it comes to school, choosing a new outfit every day can be incredibly taxing in addition to all of the other things you must juggle as a student. With these tips, you’ll hopefully be able to find joy in creating a style that matches your individuality, rather than another day of hoodies and sweatpants.

Be open minded

Whether it be shopping or looking at the clothes you already own, try to view pieces as a part of an outfit, rather than a solitary article of clothing.

Get out of your comfort zone

When creating outfits, try different patterns, such as cheetah print, stripes, etc. In addition, vary the textures in your outfits. There are so many options, such as corduroy, denim, knit, cotton, etc.

Incorporate different types of accessories

Aside from jewelry, experiment with things such as hats, belts, sunglasses, etc. From my experience, stores such as Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, and almost any thrift store are very reliable options to find trendy accessories.

Layer your clothing

This will keep you comfortable and warm during the nearing winter months and is trendy. A personal favorite look of mine is a striped long sleeve and a graphic tee.

Go thrifting!

Not only is it environmentally friendly, you’re bound to find some very interesting and trendy pieces for a very low price. Sandpoint is home to many good thrift shops, such as Goodwill, Northwest Threads (in Foster’s Crossing), and Panhandle Animal Shelter Thrift Store. The latter is my absolute favorite – half of my wardrobe can be traced back to it, and I’m helping animals find fur-ever homes in the process.

Pay attention to details

Tuck in your shirts and cuff your jeans or shirt sleeves. Many shirts and bottoms are bland and uninteresting, but these easy tricks makes your clothes look fitted and comfortable.

Mix and match colors

Personally, I love the look of a statement piece along with neutral colors, such as a white tee, black jeans, and bright red shoes. I also enjoy matching my shirts with my shoes. For example, if I were to wear a white shirt with classic denim jeans, I’d make a point to wear white sneakers.

Above all, be creative. Work with clothes you already have and incorporate these tricks into your style to spice up your style for fall.
