APPLE UPDATE

New products and software are announced.

On Sept. 17, iOS 8, a well-advertised and anticipated new version of Apple’s software, was released to the millions of Apple customers in America along with a new iPhone, the iPhone 6.

With every new release of iOS software, it seems that even the not so tech-oriented are excited to see a new version of Apple’s software coming to their devices.

Apple described this new update as “the biggest iOS release ever,” with new features such as the new health app and keyboard system that will predict the words wanting to be pressed without even pushing a button. In general, there has been quite the buzz about the new release.

One thing still seems to be lingering in the minds of Apple users, however. The new update was not available for the iPhone 4 and was rumored to greatly reduce the speed or even crash the operating system of the iPhone 4S.

“I haven’t downloaded the update yet because I’m scared it might ruin my phone,” said senior Jared Cooper.

It appears as though Apple continues to make such large jumps in technology that operating systems coming out a little over three years ago are slowly becoming outdated.

On the other hand, many users find the new software to be convenient and refreshing.

“I like how you can immediately reply to text messages by swiping down a notification. Also, I like the ‘recents’ bubbles when you double click the home button,” said junior Nan Kiebert.

The software’s new features such as the long-awaited ability to leave a group chat offer Apple customers a new set of conveniences making the iPhone more productive and easier to use.

Another anticipated release was the iPhone 6. The new phone features a 4.7 inch long screen and if that’s not big enough, the iPhone 6 plus has a screen with a length of 5.5 inches.

The new phones were designed to combat the largest flaw in design throughout iPhone history. The addition of ion-strengthened glass was introduced to prevent the seemingly inevitable screen crack.

The iPhone 6 plus seemed like a great new edition to the Apple and iPhone family. However, some news sources report of the new phone bending in users pockets because of the enormity of the device. This came as a surprise to Apple.

A report from Apple said, “Only nine customers have complained about the device being too flimsy.”

“It’s kind of like the iPhone 5S but with a little bit better camera and rounded edges,” said senior Kenny Kovalchuk, an owner of an iPhone 6.

Apple produced what appears to be an advanced new phone with just enough new features to draw in buyers. The updated version of their already industry leading software has proven to be an additional step in recent technological advances.
