Jeralyn Mire accepted an award for Idaho High School Counselor of the Year at the Idaho School Counselor Association’s Fall Conference on Oct. 2, 2015.

“I nominated Jeralyn to be the Counselor of the year for all the work that she’s done with the Go On grant and for working with all the students in the first generation, and now she’s received the award,” says principal Tom Albertson.

“It’s an award I share with a lot of people,” Mire said. “They had to nominate one person, but we really have a phenomenal counseling team.”

Mire said the process of earning the award after she was nominated was more time-intensive than she had first assumed.

“It was a great process because it really made me solidify why I got into this profession and really think about the impact…,” Mire said. “I had to think about if I’m still excited about what I am doing. It was a good process, but it was a little lengthier than I had thought.”

“All of the counselors are very deserving,” Albertson said, “but we’ve been very fortunate in the school to have a fourth counselor that focuses just on that secondary transition.”
