LPOSD CHAIRMAN STEVE YOUNGDHAL TAKES SOME LAST MINUTE NOTES.

The most recent Lake Pend Oreille School District (LPOSD) board meeting was held in the Sandpoint High School (SHS) library on February 10, 2015.

Secretary-Treasurer of the Sandpoint High School Student Council, Rebeca Klopman-Baerselman, spoke in front of members of the board in order for the prom location to be approved. They enjoyed her speech, saying that “[The proposal] was very straightforward and the location is easily accessible and was well chosen by the members of the senior class student council.”

LPOSD board member, Joel Molander even asked if he could be a chaperone. The board members had a good laugh and voted in favor of having prom at the Columbia Bank. Prom will now officially be held on April 25, 2015 at the Columbia Bank.

The welding classes also distributed their metal roses they have been making in preparation for Valentines day. A student from one of the welding classes explained to the board how the flowers were made.

Students from the Culinary Arts class offered at SHS, provided each member of the board with a bowl of homemade tomato soup and a slice of homemade bread. Council members were pleasantly surprised and seemed to enjoy the soup.

The Spanish III and IV classes presented as well, showing a short video clip for an upcoming promotional video for their classes. Members of Mary Imaz’s Spanish IV class and Lori Bocksch’s Spanish III class were present and did a live demonstration for the board.

“Decidí estudiar español porque ser capaz de hablar otro idioma me permite hablar con más gente. Me gustaría comunicarse mejor con la gente de todo el mundo” said student India Miller, which translates to “I decided to study Spanish because being able to speak another language lets me speak with more people. I’d like to communicate better with people around the world.”

Overall, the students and staff represented the many classes offered at Sandpoint High School well, and greatly impressed the board.
