SLIGHTLY UNDERRATED

Some things are more hip than they seem

Many things in life don’t get the credit they deserve. The Cedar Post staff is here to let you know what some of those items are in this version of the Slightly Underrated list.

Samsung Phones

Although Apple is typically seen as the innovator in cell phones, Samsung was the first company to have widgets, the charging pad, and the iris scan, all of which Apple is marketing in its “innovative” iPhone X. Samsung is the leader in phones. Apple is just playing catch-up.

Reese’s Puffs

Wouldn’t you love to experience the delicious combination of peanut butter and chocolate puffs swimming in a bowl of milk? Reese’s Puffs need to be talked about more because they are your favorite candy in the form of a breakfast food. Eat some Reese’s Puffs. Your morning time will be epic.

— Jezza Hutto

Yeti Water Bottles

Yeti water bottles are built to last and will keep beverages your desired temperature with their tough, double-wall insulation. This high quality water bottle is able to withstand all kinds of violent forces. They’re surprisingly durable and extremely practical.

— Ciena Christensen

Mochi Balls

I feel like too many people do not know what mochi balls are. Mochi balls are one of the most underrated desserts out there, and that’s coming from a big dessert guy. Mochi balls are flavorful, chewy balls that contain a center of ice-cream. No matter the combination of flavors of the mochi and the ice-cream, it will be phenomenal. If it’s a texture thing for you, leave the rest for me.

Road House

Road House the movie and Patrick Swayze the star actor are the most underrated things on this planet. Rotten Tomatoes Gave it a rating of 6.5 out of 10. That’s absurd. It’s only because all the idiots that work for Rotten Tomatoes are like in their 20s and have no respect for movies older than them.

Hummus

Vegetables are the last thing on my plate, but with the invention of hummus, it makes the most disgusting of vegetables enjoyable with the creamy and garlic tang. Step aside ranch, hummus is here.

Today’s Hip-Hop

Too many people nowadays are too quick to bag on today’s hip-hop. Yes, there are some rappers that are complete and utter trash like Lil Yachty, Kodak Black, Uzi Vert. The majority of rappers today have intricate lyricism over the hardest beats to date. The metaphors and punchlines in some of today’s music are out of this world. If you can’t find any bars that I am talking about, just check out A$AP Mob, Dave East, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, etc.

Receiving a package

Walking up to your front porch after a long day of school and seeing a package with your name sitting there is such a exciting, joyful and underrated feeling. Go order a package.

— Mya Darling

Cooking

I love take-out food and dining out as much as the next girl, but neglecting to learn to cook sets people up for a ramen-riddled life of empty bank accounts and burnt toast. Grow up.

— McCalee Cain

Banana Split Dippin’ Dots

Only once in my lifetime have I encountered another person that shares as much love as I do for Banana Split Dippin’ Dots. For everyone else that absolutely hates them, rethink your life decisions please and thank you.

— Claire Keener

Showers

It has become a popular thought that showering daily is bad for your hair and showers are often swapped for dry shampoo, but they wake and warm you while keeping you clean. Please don’t opt out of showers.

— Sarah Donnelly

Wool

Wool material is extremely underrated, especially among the younger generations, because they don’t realize how beneficial it really is. Wool socks are undeniably the best thing to add to your closet, particularly in an area like North Idaho. Wool jackets are not only incredibly insulated and warm but also waterproof. Genius.

— Mason White

Stubbing your toes

The pain of stubbing your toes is underrated. It hurts more when you stub your toe in the middle of the night than giving birth to triplets. I mean, come on, have you ever wanted to stub your toe again? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

— Bruin Jones

Potatoes

The humble potato can be transformed into a multitude of forms: creamy mashed potatoes, fluffy hash browns, greasy french fries, crispy chips, velvety soup, doughy gnocchi, steamy baked potatoes, or crunchy tater tots. Potatoes are starchy gold.

— Cienna Roget

Reggae

The upbeat, relaxing Rastafarian music from Jamaica is something that should become the new essential rather than the occasional listen. Its Reggae time.
