CP REVIEW: NOW YOU SEE ME
Bi-weekly reviews by Cedar Post Staff
Now You See Me 2 is the sequel and latest movie in the Now You See Me trilogy. While there are some saving graces to the film, it is far from perfect.
In this comedic thriller, a team of magicians are tasked with stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. Overall, the movie is mostly entertaining and has many awe-inspiring magic tricks for the viewer. However, the movie still tries to be bigger than it needs to be in terms of plot devices and characters.
Since this film is the second in the series, the movie seems to think that it has to be bigger than its predecessor; even going so far as to having Woody Harrelson play two different roles. Not only are there some useless characters in the film, but compared to the first movie some of the magic tricks are just not believable, making it more disappointing than it could have been if they went with a more realistic approach.
Even though these factors do play their part in producing some gripes, the movie still does accomplish its main goal of making an entertaining and satisfying film nonetheless.
In the end, Now You See Me 2 entertains its viewers and is worth watching on Redbox, but still falls under the classic curse of not living up to the first.
