STUDENTS CLIMB AT SANDPOINT ROCK GYM
The bouldering gym is a hangout place for many students after school
Sandpoint Rock Gym in the old mill on Church Street is a common place to spend time for some students at Sandpoint High School. “I’m just always there, Rainy Woodward said. “I hang out there because the people are cool and everything is just really chill there.”
Noah Hastings also volunteers at the climbing gym two days a week. “I started near the beginning of the school year […] because my dad really got me into climbing,” Hastings said. Nathan Roe and Brock Browning have also been going to the rock gym frequently.
Different courses mapped out by tape on and around hand holds make different difficulty levels and set courses to climb. Bouldering is the climbing type, so it doesn’t require any gear, though sometimes special shoes are used which can be borrowed at Sandpoint Climbing gym.
