“It was pretty fun […] and it was Senior Night so we had people that didn’t usually start. I scored the first goal, so that was fun too,” junior Jack Rinck, a center midfield player, said.

“It went well, we didn’t play up to what we normally play against Lake City or the better teams. We played down to [Bonners Ferry’s] level. We still got a win, though,” senior Kyle Hertel, a goalie, said.

As the season progresses, both players interviewed mentioned things that the Bulldogs need to improve upon in order to up their game.

“We need to not play down to our opponents levels if they’re not as good, and working more as a unit instead of playing in sections. We have a bunch of players that play really well together, but we don’t play as a full team really well,” Hertel said.

“I think the team needs to work on playing more consistently [together], playing well against teams we should play well against, like Lake City,” Rinck said.

Even so, the team is hopeful for a good outcome at districts and state.

“[Our chances are] definitely better than last year, but getting through districts seems hard. If we put it together, I think state would be an option,” Rinck said.
