DANCE AND CHEER GO TO STATE
The Sandpoint High School dance and cheer teams recently competed at their state competitions in Boise, ID. Both competitions took place at the Ford Idaho Center.
The dance competition took place on Friday, March 20. The dance team competed in the categories hip hop, kick, prop and large dance. Unlike previous years, all team divisions competed by category in one day.
In the past, separate days or times have been dedicated to different team divisions. The dance team placed second in prop, third in large dance and were awarded third overall.
“My favorite part [of the competition] was waiting before each routine with the team and getting excited to perform each time. I liked performing prop the best and I was excited that we placed third this year because we have worked so hard and deserve to place,” sophomore dancer Moriah Haley said.
The cheer competition took place on Saturday, March 21. The team competed their co-ed show routine and their all-girls stunt routine. They placed fourth in both categories. The cheer competition was split with two divisions competing in the morning, and two more in the afternoon.
“I think the most amazing part was to see the other teams and who we were competing against. They were outstanding, and knowing that we were good enough to get there and compete against them; it felt good that our hard work got us so far. I really couldn’t be prouder of my team,” senior cheerleader Reagan Rockholm said.
