SPECIAL OLYMPIC PENGUIN PLUNGE

2015 SPECIAL OLYMPICS OF IDAHO WILL BE HOLDING THEIR ANNUAL FUNDRAISER

On Saturday, March 21, Special Olympics of Idaho will be hosting their yearly “Freezin’ for a Reason” Penguin Plunge at Sandpoint City Beach. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the plunge will start at noon.

The Penguin Plunge is one of the Special Olympics’ biggest fundraisers. The money is used to fund training opportunities, pay for uniforms, equipment, training facility fees, and travel fees to both regionals and nationals.

This is a creative way for the community and individuals to come out and support their Special Olympic athletes by gathering together and taking a plunge into the icy water of Lake Pend Oreille.

All types of donations are welcomed. Those who would like to donate can go to the Special Olympics’ FirstGiving website and make a donation at: www.firstgiving.com/idso/2015-sandpoint-penguin-plunge.

Another way that someone could donate is by making a tax-deductible contribution of items to be used for the silent auction and raffle. Without the community’s generosity, Special Olympics would not be possible.

“We hope you choose to donate to this worthy cause. Your generosity will make a difference in the lives of our athletes and their families,” local Special Olympic organizer, Chris Painter, said.
