Working in the Winter

Ideas for Teens Looking for Jobs This Winter
Working in the Winter

Without the warm weather of Summer, it’s difficult to go outside and have fun in Sandpoint. But what are the people of Sandpoint supposed to do with their free time in the colder seasons? Many people take up skiing or snowboarding, but that can get quite expensive in a short period of time. Rather than spending money this Winter, why not make money with a job in Sandpoint?

Schweitzer Mountain

As Schweitzer becomes busier in Winter, they tend to be looking for young, capable workers to pick up the slack. The best part is that there are tons of different jobs available up there! From working in one of the many restaurants or coffee shops to running the chair lift, the possibilities are endless. Most of the jobs on the mountain are appropriate for a teenager in high school, and the hours can be very flexible!

Restaurants in Town

Given how many restaurants are in Sandpoint, there are bound to be job opportunities year round. Some restaurants that frequently hire teens in high school are Connie’s, Joel’s, MickDuffs, The Fat Pig, Jalapenos, Serv-a-Burger, Dubs, and so many more! Working in a restaurant can be great for a teen to get some easy work experience, and it can be so fun. Most of these places pay quite well, and some even make a lot of tips!

Grocery Stores

Unfortunately, Sandpoint doesn’t have a lot of fun places, so the youth are typically seen wandering the grocery stores in groups. Because of this, many managers of these grocery stores hire teens! Walmart, Super 1, Yokes, and The Dollar Tree are all great places for a teenager to work after school or on the weekends. They also typically pay better than restaurants or retail stores in town – more money for gas or school lunch!

Lawn and House Care

With the Sandpoint population increasing rapidly, new houses are being built in what seems like a day. However, new houses means new job opportunities for young people! Many homeowners would appreciate a high school student doing their lawn and house care for the best prices. Jobs like these also pay well and can be done after school or over the weekend!

Winter means lots of idle time, but a job can help fix that! Sandpoint is a great town for teens looking for a place to work, as long as they look in the right places.
