NEW GRADING SYSTEM
What’s different from past years?
A new school year is bringing in a new grading system. In past years, students and parents received eight mailings at home that served as their designated progress reports.
Instead of sending home the usual eight, the school will only be sending four official reports during the school year.
Recently, parents have received their students’ Schoology passwords so they are able to check their kids’ grades whenever they want, creating an easier process.
The grades, as guaranteed by the administration, will be updated every four weeks in order to verify students progress. The administration has also changed the name they used to refer to as “quarter one.” They will now call it “mid-term semester one.”
The new grading system is an accumulative system, meaning the grades are carried on throughout the “term” and will be finalized at the end of both semester one and semester two.
The first progress reports to be sent home will take place after parent teacher conferences on Nov. 10.
Patsy Sletager said, “We have to take advantage of technology to do something different this year. Before, with the eight mailings being sent home, there was a lot of manual labor, time, and money spent. The future hope is that technology will be the main means for grading.”
