CHROMEBOOK REPAIRS
Zachary Gillenwater spends his third period fixing a majority of the broken Chromebooks sent his way
Cracked screens and broken keys may come off as a scare to many, but for junior Zachary Gillenwater it’s a regular third period.
Gillenwater fixes most Chromebook problems, whether it’s the computer’s operating system, keyboard, mouse, battery, or screen, and returns them back the their users.
“It is really good for his communication skills because he has to talk to his peers and explain what’s going on in a non-technical way,” teacher Alex Gray said.
After earning his A+ Certification last year, Gillenwater finds no worry or confusion cracking open such a complex device.
“It’s a sense of accomplishment, taking it apart and fixing it. A lot of people have no clue about what’s going on. Zach knows every little part and piece,” Gray said, “This is actually easy. What we do in my A+ class is hard in comparison.”
If a device cannot be fixed it will be shipped back for warranty repair.
Although Gillenwater can fix the problems with ease, he still finds the work enjoyable and rewarding.
“I like taking things apart,” junior Zachary Gillenwater said, “it’s nice to be able to diagnose a problem and fix it.”
Gillenwater and Gray recommend restarting or charging your Chromebook before filling out a repair form.
