THE BOTTOM LINE: BASKETBALL DRAFT EDITION

What players should you target in your fantasy league’s basketball draft?

Peyton Mullen

Mavericks’ guard Luka Doncic is going into his second year in the NBA. Is he worth drafting around his rank?

This draft guide is based on a 12-team, head-to-head points, that drafts 13 players per team. Also, players not mentioned are exceptional options too, but the players mentioned are either recommended or to be avoided.

1st-2nd Rounds

Target: Trae Young, Russell Westbrook, Luka Doncic

Avoid: Jimmy Butler, Myles Turner, Kawhi Leonard

In the first round, draft the best available player. In the second round, and after, start targeting certain players like the ones above.

3rd-4th Rounds

Target: Ben Simmons, Devin Booker, Kristaps Porzingis, Demar Derozan

Avoid: Chris Paul, Mike Conley, Robert Covington, Draymond Green

Another notable player to target in these rounds is Zion Williamson. He suffered a right knee injury during the preseason and expected to miss a few weeks, but he is still a player to target.

5th-6th Rounds

Target: Jamal Murray, C.J. McCollum, Bam Adebayo, Jonas Valanciunas

Avoid: Brook Lopez, Al Hortford, Jonathan Isaac

Victor Oladipo is also a player to target during this range, but he’s still rehabbing from his quad injury he suffered last season. Nonetheless, he’s a great IR stash.

7th-8th Rounds

Target: Terry Rozier, Steven Adams, Domantas Sabonis, Dewayne Dedmon

Avoid: Fred VanVleet, Lonzo Ball, Mikal Bridges, Gordon Hayward

Delon Wright, a potential breakout candidate, broke out late last season for the Grizzlies and is another player in this range to keep your eyes on as he might start at PG for the Mavericks.

9th-10th Rounds

Target: Lou Williams, Justise Winslow, Andrew Wiggins, Brandon Clarke

Avoid: Gary Harris, J.J. Redick, Nicolas Batum, T.J. Warren, Kevin Huerter

A gamble that might be worth taking is Brandon Ingram. He has a fresh start and looks to be a starter for the Pelicans.

11th-13th Rounds

Target: R.J. Barrett, Harrison Barnes, Cedi Osman, Jarrett Culver,

Avoid: Danny Green, Kyle Anderson, Marvin Williams, Kevon Looney

Colin Sexton and Darius Garland are two players that are worth looking at. They’re both PGs for the Cavaliers, but they’re both expected to start.
