Gerrit Cox – Football
Q- What is different to you about high school football than the middle school league?
A- “I like high school football more because it’s more competitive and we get to play more teams, there is more fans, and you get to go on more road trips with your teammates.”
Q- What is the best game-moment you have experienced this year?
A- “When I was playing linebacker and I made a huge hit against vs. Mead, it was at memorial too, so all of my friends saw it”.
Q- What do you want to achieve this year in football?
A- “I want to get at least ten touchdowns.”
Ethaniel Johnson – Soccer
Q- To you, what is the difference between playing on varsity and jv soccer?
A- “On varsity, people are bigger and it is more competitive. On jv, I can play with more confidence and it is easier for me to connect the ball around.”
Q- What is the hardest part about playing on varsity soccer?
A- “Playing with confidence is a part I struggle with because everyone is a bigger and has more experience. Another thing I need to work on is game awareness in stressful situations, as well as getting a good reputation with the coach for playing time.”
Q- How do you think you can develop your game awareness?
A- “Getting more minutes in the game and it will develop over time.”
KJ Johansen – Wrestling
Q- What is the biggest difference between wrestling at the high school level vs. middle school?
A- “Middle school wrestling was really easy and I would usually win because I faced girls a lot. Now at the high school level, I face boys more and I don’t know how well I will do.”
Q- What do you want to accomplish in your first season of high school wrestling?
A- “I want to go to state and place on the podium because to my knowledge no girl has ever placed at state in Idaho”.
Q- What is it like being one of the few female wrestlers at SHS?
A- “It is difficult because you mainly have to wrestle against boys, but my team is pretty welcoming so I feel comfortable.”
Q- What is you favorite event to wrestle at?
A- “Battle for the paddle will be fun but doing club wrestling for the National team that I am on is the best. I am most looking forward to the Fargo tournament in North Dakota.
