ALBUM OF THE MONTH REVIEW: FREUDIAN

Bringing soul back to modern music

Freudian is a new album by upcoming artist, Daniel Caesar, that was released on August 25 this year. The album is Caesar’s third, consisting of ten R&B/Soul songs that are a mixture of studio and live recordings of Caesar singing and random dialogue. If you are looking for music that is relaxing and destressing, this may be an album worth adding to your playlist.

Daniel Caesar’s powerful vocals are well accompanied by beautiful instruments and background vocals, and the lyrics are also impressively powerful themselves. The songs are very different from what many are used to hearing today, with a unique mixture of soul, pop and R&B.

The theme is mostly revolved around love, expressing the best parts of being in love with someone and the worst parts. Freudian is a really beautiful album to listen to, and has many talented artists featured in it’s songs such as Kali Uchis, H.E.R., and Syd that help to make the album even more successful.

Freudian has an overall chill vibe, and the transitions between each song fits with the music perfectly. I would recommend this album to anyone who is looking for new music to listen to, and wants to shy away from the usual rap and pop songs played on the radio.
