MADI SCHOENING SIGNS WITH UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA
Schoening was offered a full ride to two universities.
Sandpoint High School senior Madi Schoening recently signed a letter of intent with University of Montana’s women’s basketball team. Both the University of Montana and Montana State University offered her a full ride scholarship her following her junior year of high school.
Schoening has been playing for the SHS varsity girls basketball team since she was a freshman. Since her sophomore year, Schoening has led the team as a captain and led the team in scoring. She also helped the team qualify for the Idaho State Girls Basketball Tournament her sophomore and junior year, aiding the team in receiving a third-place rank her junior year.
“Here at SHS I’ve learned a lot of leadership, I have learned to use every player for their role on the court for the team’s success. Growing up, my dad would spend hours with me shooting around and dribbling, even in the snow. My parents have always been emotionally and financially supportive of me. They drove me everywhere, even to Canada,” Schoening said.
Schoening was born in Boise, Idaho. That is where she began playing basketball at the age at of three. Growing up, she averaged going to three or four basketball camps to work on her skills during the summer. Her experiences at SHS and throughout her life have shaped her into the advanced basketball player she is today.
