Sophomore class raises $800 at male volleyball event
The senior class took home the title, but the sophomore class also won big at Tuesday’s Ironman volleyball event.
The sophomore class raised $800 at the event with the money intended to help pay for their prom, according to Student Leadership adviser Kristin Hawkins. More than 150 students attended the event that allows Sandpoint High’s male athletes to show off their volleyball skills.
The Ironman teams were divided by classes, with each class having two practices before they played on Les Rogers Court.
Games started at 6 p.m. with the juniors beating the sophomores. This was followed by the seniors playing and beating the freshmen, and a battle for 3rd and 4th place between the sophomores and freshmen.
After the freshmen lost to the sophomores, the juniors and seniors fought for the championship, which was to be decided with a best-out-of-three format. The senior defeated the juniors 2-0.
