For the past two years, Barbara Crumb had been working for
the State Department of Education. She decided to return to teach English to Sophomores and Juniors for the 2015-2016 school year.

In 2013, Crumb took her position as a “Core Coach”, where she aided teachers in adapting to the new common core state standards. This included looking at quality education and creating units that aligned with the state standards. Crumb was in charge of region one, which includes Idaho’s five northern counties.

Crumb eventually decided to reenter the world of teaching high school students. Although she enjoyed working for the state department, she found herself isolated.

“I missed the kids horribly,” Crumb said, “I needed interaction with people. I needed interaction with kids,”

Crumb is motivated to come to school because of her students and the curriculum she teaches. She is also known by her students to have great excitement during her classes.

“ I think it [her excitement] creates a very energetic atmosphere and it encourages you to do your best,” Mackenzie Crabb, Crumb’s student, said.

Although Crumb is constantly buried in her work, she still adores her job.

“ I literally walk down the halls going ‘I have the best job in the world’. I love my job,” Crumb said.
