PHOTO ESSAY: HOMECOMING DANCE
The Homecoming Dance was held in the Sandpoint High School commons on Sat., Sept. 19.
September 20, 2015

The first students arrived at 8:00 p.m. through the art hallway, where they saw stars hanging from the ceiling and blue and white decorations.

The dance slowly gained more students within the first hour.

Christian Boone was the deejay at this event. The music was well-received by students.

In line with tradition, the dance was semi-formal, meaning that shorter length dresses and dress shirts with ties were common.

About an hour into the dance, the majority of the attendees had arrived.

Some students attended homecoming as a couple.

Whereas some students came with a group of friends or solo.

When popular dance songs came on (for example, Flo Rida’s “Apple Bottom Jeans”) the crowd seemed to move in unison with the dance moves.

As slow songs came on, some students danced together and others socialized with friends.

The most notable element of the dance was the heat. As has been an issue in the past with dances in the commons, even with three industrial-sized fans cooling the room, it still becomes very hot on the dance floor. At times, the dance was more sparse when students took a break from the heat.

Homecoming Queen Madi Schoening and her date Paul Sundquist danced together throughout the evening.
