FALL SPORTS PREVIEW

Boys’ Soccer

Coach: Adam Tajan

Key Players: Jared Cooper, Kyle Stanley, Kyle Hertel

Outlook: “We are a very young team this year with only three seniors.Last year we graduated 12 seniors with 9 of them being starters. We’re young but hungry to prove we can play at a very high level. Sophomores will hold down the majority of the starting spots. Every game this fall will be a dogfight!”

Team Motto: “120 minutes. 120 minutes is our coaching staff’s version of total concentration/focus/drive from the moment you lace up your boots until the final whistle blows.”

Team Goals: “With the right attitude and improvement throughout the season, we can be a title contender.”


Volleyball

Coach: Erin Roos

Key Players: Taylor Martin, Darbey Scrimsher, Trinity Young, Amy Shepard, Lexi Riley, Kayla Neumann, Laney Search

Outlook: “My objective is to enhance the level of hard work, commitment, and competitiveness. We are trying to prepare for the teams we meet at state. Our tournaments we have scheduled this year with non-league competition will help with this goal: Lewiston, the Crossover, and a Tri Match between Post Falls and Skyview.”

Team Motto: “All out, All game, All season.”

Team Goal: “Get to state, win state, and have fun doing it.”


Cross Country

Coach: Matt and Angie Brass

Key Runners:

Girls’ team – Mikhaela Woodward, Rainey Woodward, Katherine Kaul, Cori McClelland, Claire Pierce, Lauren Orr, Emily Marshall, Sharon Rowe Boys’

Boys’ team – Sam Powell, Kenny Kovalchuk, Jacob Graham, Andy McGinnis, Matt Cloud, Chris Cordova, Mark Kennaly

Outlook: “After coming off a great season as Team Champions, the girls team hopes to return to state with returning Champion Team members Mikhaela Woodward, Rainey Woodward, Cori McClelland, Claire Pierce, Lauren Orr, Emily Marshall. The boys are also hoping to repeat their regional champion title and place well at the state level.”

Team Motto: “Rise as one. Iron sharpens iron.”

Team Goal: “To improve upon performances as a team, to win the regional titles, and for both teams to trophy at state!”


Girls’ Soccer

Coach: Conor Baranski

Key Players: Corinne Ariss, Paige Dumars, Madi Schoening, Nan Kiebert, Riley Couch, Ashly Busch, Heidi Skinner

Outlook: “We lost 11 varsity players after winning state last year, so we are young and inexperienced. With that, my goal is to be playing our best soccer at the end of the season, get back to state, and hopefully defend our title.”

Team Motto: “We don’t really have a team motto as of yet. But, players that went to state last year will understand that I like to find good omens wherever we go, and finding good omens worked for us.”

Team Goal: “As I said, our end goal is to win state. after our first week, that is going to be a lofty goal. However, we have a full season to get to playing our best. I think we can at least make a run for it.”


Swimming

Coach: Mike Brosnahan

Key Players:

Girl Swimmers – Madi Contor, Payton Bokowy, Emily Deitz, Kate Matlosz

Boy Swimmers – Ben Reich, Seth Bamer, Miles Luce

Outlook: “The girls team is the strongest team in many years and we should have the top five places at state and top five team total out of 50 plus teams. The boys have a small amount of swimmers, but most will make it to state and have good swims.”

Team Motto: “Work hard, swim smart, results don’t come by chance.”

Team Goal: “Win at the district and State levels.”


Football

Coach: Satini Puailoa

Key Players: Offense -Nate Loutzenheiser, Kyle Perry, Matt Timothy, Billy Webber, Carlos Collado Defense – Quinn Pearlstein, Tyler Harris, Jean-Luc Albertson, Jeff Kappen

Outlook: “We are much better athletically and we are way more knowledgeable about the game itself. That being said, we have been given a more competitive schedule this season. Four teams dropped us, and they picked five 5A teams to replace them. So on our schedule we now have: Lake City, Lewiston, Mt. Spokane, University High, and Post Falls. Therefore we will be tested.”

Team Motto: “ ‘EMADS’ aka ‘Every Man a Dog’ ”

Team Goal: “To be our best us. Us vs. Us.”
