5 Tips to Confidence – 7B Style

Confidence is the best accessory. Here are five tips on how to rock it:

  1. Jam out

A simple way to add a dose of confidence to your day is to listen to some music in the morning as you shower or get ready. Turn on whatever tunes get you pumped up, and feel free to sing along – according to Time, singing has been scientifically proven to release oxytocin and endorphins, hormones associated with lower stress and feelings of pleasure.

  1. Strut your stuff

The importance of body language has been recognized universally. Body language is key in the projection of confidence, and because of the closeness of the mind-body connection, it is a useful tool in directly controlling your mood. Even if you’re not feeling too confident, try to walk briskly and confidently to exude a confident vibe. If you fake it well enough, you won’t be able to help but feel it.

  1. Compliment Others

When you aren’t feeling great yourself, it can be good to take a moment to make someone else feel good. Give a sincere compliment to a friend, a family member, or better yet, a stranger to make someone else’s day. Spread some positive confidence mojo!

  1. Lie to yourself

Now comes time for the easiest step of all: lie to yourself. In times of insecurity and unsureness, tell yourself that you are confident and feeling great. If you aren’t sure if you are pulling off a particular look or piece, tell yourself that you’re positively rocking it. While lying to yourself obviously doesn’t seem like one of the healthiest nor most positive of behaviors, this fake-it-till-you-feel-it method is very helpful in many situations.

  1. Take it easy on yourself

The hardest, yet most effective step to confidence is self-care. When you’re feeling particularly bad about yourself, try to monitor your stream of thought and identify any negative thoughts you are having. Focus your energy on changing these thoughts so that your mental self-talk is as positive and encouraging as possible. This is much easier said than done, but entirely worth the effort to take care of yourself. Confidence radiates from the inside out, so try to be gentle and caring with the way that you see yourself.
